Home sweet home

Well, its just been same old same old stuff. Priya and I busy with our work and Manohar busy with his internship. Weekends are absolutely relaxing and fantastic. The house is going at a good pace as you can see below. More to come later !

The only thing that we are going to miss is the convenience of staying close to work, coming home for lunch, taking siestas... wow ! After we move down to Pearland, we will have to leave early and get back home early so that we have a lot of time to relax and cook in the evenings. Overall, from what I have heard, we should be falling in love with the new house and spending all our weekends in setting up our home sweet home.

Our wedding and Switzerland

"Rathipriya and Karthik are destined to walk together hand in hand" said one of our well-wishers at our reception in Bangalore, India. I saw her for the first time on August 12th 2004 in Beaumont, Texas and we had not even imagined in our wildest dreams that we are going to start dating. Both our parents gave us a green signal when we told them about us... thank you dad, mom and in-laws. We got married in Madras, India on the August 26th, 2007 and had our reception in Bangalore on August 29th, 2007.

It was the most memorable days of my life and we had the best time with all our loved ones. My brother Manohar (Manu), Dad and Mom were all excited and before they realized time, the wedding got over. All of them enjoyed every moment together. And who can forget Badri Chickappa (uncle) getting dressed like a P**P daddy and dancing to all those "Bluffmaster" songs. Overall, it was a fantastic experience for Priya and I being in the spotlight.

I had to leave to Norway for a weeks business meeting after spending a couple of days with my parents in Bangalore. I still remember my mom trying not to show how much she is going to miss me when she was seeing me off at the airport. I spent a week there and Priya joined me in Switzerland and we spent 9 days in god's exotic paradise.

Priya even now cherishes every moment we spent there. It was worth every cent we spent out there and we would give a five star recommendation to ya'll having plans for getting married anytime soon. If I get a chance again to take Priya to Switzerland, I would love to, 'cos she loves it so much. And of course, sponsors like Ramji need to pitch in their share in to keep his cousin tour Europe again !

None of these scenic pictures are paintings... This is exactly what we saw from our own eyes. And trust us, its more beautiful than what it looks like on the blog.

Ground breaking ceremony

Priya just said " the past many months have gone by so fast"... we spent the first three months looking for our dream home. Yesterday, June 06, 2008, we did our "Guddali Pooja" which is our Indian version of ground breaking ceremony. We were in our traditional attire and the pooja went on for about an hour. We prayed lord Ganesha for removing all the obstacles that may come during construction and thanked him for all the good things that he has endowed upon us.

We called Dad and it was around 4:15 A.M in the morning for him. Manu, my brother had given him “a major good news” yesterday, so my parents could not sleep pretty much. My parents were so happy and they were in tears. Mom said, “ I have two homes now, one in India and one in the United States”.
Anyways, we called our dad and he recited all the mantras for about an hour or so… and when we completed the pooja, we had the blessings from rain god, he just drizzled over us for a couple of minutes.

Thanks to my brother Manohar, our friends Vis, Sundar, Lakshmi and our youngest member of the gang, Sagana… for making our day special.
Now, we are going to make trips every weekend and we are kind of getting ready for surprises the way the house will be built. If you are interestedto view our house plan, you may do it on http://www.newmarkhomes.com/tousa/ShowCommunity.do?communityId=497 and select "drake" model all the way at the bottom for a 360 degree tour.

Introduction

This is Rathipriya and Karthik, from Houston, TX. Today is our first day of blogging and we thought that we should preserve and cherish all the wonderful and memorable moments in our life. We got inspired by Sagana, 7 month old baby of our friends Santlakshmi and Gokul from Pearland, TX, to create this blog….and guessed that we need to have our own space in the digital world.
